Selected Questions of Digital Humanities (seminar)

This seminar examines the history, theory, and key debates of the Digital Humanities as an interdisciplinary field.

Instructor: Chiara Zuanni, Sarah Lang

Course Overview

The seminar explores the development of the Digital Humanities from discipline-specific computational practices to an independent interdisciplinary field. It examines the digitisation of humanities sources, the development of digital research methods, and the impact of digital technologies on knowledge production in the humanities.

Through the discussion of key texts, projects, and theoretical approaches, students gain an understanding of central debates within the field and learn to critically assess the opportunities and challenges associated with digital methods in humanities research.

This course was taught at the University of Graz in Summer Semester 2022 together with Chiara Zuanni.
